Should parents lose custody of obese children?

Researchers from Harvard University say that unskilled parents can leave severely obese children vulnerable to an unhealthy lifesyile and they say that its a kind of child abuse.

well, when they all have kids of their own and they have perfect diets and weights with no problems, then they can say something. other than that they can keep their nose in they own business.abuse my eye. theres a thin line between whats abuse and whats not.

fruit don't fall far from the tree , mort than likely the culprit is the parents themselvs. taking the kids away really isn't going to solve anything, but put a burden on the states , they seem to have enough problems , why not fine the parents $10 a pound till their kids are in the proper weight class for their age and height!

I think that it is a case to case  issue... Some children are prone to having weight issues. My nephew has a growth disorder and he is a LARGE boy. I have a child at school who has a thyriod disorder who is huge. If a child is not being parented properly there may be a case for neglect... Parents how think that Mc Donalds is a caterer need to have charges brought agianst them. Parents who fill their childs mouths rather than talking to them, need to have charges brought again them. But having said that.. With 2 parents working in most home (if there are 2 parents) meal time has become a drive thru experiance.

Allowing your children to be overweight is irresponsible and stupid. But than again, if stupidity was a crime, we'd all be on death row. Answer: No

It is a very difficult decision for anyone to take a child away from it's parents. If the parents REFUSE to change the feeding requirements of the child, knowing full well that the child relies on it's parents to feed and nuture it, then it would be in the child's best interest and for the child's health, to have it placed somewhere we it's nutritional needs would be put first and foremost. A child doesn't know how to take care of itself, parents must be held responsible. Parents that refuse to take responsibility should loose parental rights until such time as they accept that responsibility and take it seriously.

You can often rectify diet related health issues in children, but I don't think you can ever erase completely the emotional scar of separating children from their parents.

The parents should lose custody of themselves too.
