You'll start to learn naturally what gears are best and it shouldn't take that long, to understand. Short "hairpin" turns would be the lower gears 1 threw 3 and longer expressway type roads with gradual turns, you would use the higher gears 3 threw 6. It's not that hard and I got on my super bike when I was 16 and no one told me anything about it. I think my brother said, one down four up and I was out.
