Some smaller dealers who go to the auction will take you with them if you pay their auction fee, I think it's about 500, so that would only leave you 1500 for a used car, it might really narrow your choices.
Good luck, individual sellers usually have much better prices than dealers, you just have to get the car checked out by a mechanic before buying, otherwise you may get stuck with someone elses' lemon.
