Restore full onscreen keyboard on apple ipad

Have since discovered that I had accidentally split the keyboard in two by stretching keyboard with thumb and forefinger. Then I managed accidentally to restore the keyboard by closing forefinger and thumb on the screen. Have now ordered Ipad for Seniors and Dummies book.
