Have you tried just Googling his name (or his mother's), perhaps adding the birthdate?  (I have not.)  It sometimes takes a few weeks for brand new birth records to be entered into a data base.  If that does not work, you may try (online) the major newspapers from all the big cities or even smaller towns in southern GA to see if a birth announcement is posted.  You probably cannot learn anything from county vital statistics records (more recent privacy laws), but there is certain public information that may have to be made available.  I have never lived in GA and know nothing of GA laws; besides, laws change all the time.  Unfortunately, I know what it's like to have grandchildren missing from my life.  I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope for your success.
