how much of our national debt is spent on salaries of politicians both retired and in office?
Answers: 5 Views: 976 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
Unfortunately eggplant, too often the politicians do not get the sack (or as I say the boot) Sadly, the electorate too often votes the same cats back into office over and over again. I am reminded of the former saying: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. In regards to how much is spent on paying politicians and former politicians salaries? Even if we were to stop paying all politicians and all benefits to former politicians it wouldn't make a dent in the debt. In real terms: You wouldn't even notice it had been done. Now how bad is the situation when that is true?

Who is considered the greatest mlb shortstop?
Answers: 3 Views: 1855 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
The following were the top rated shortstops going into the 2011 season ranked by the "bleacher report" which is a respected internet magazine. Troy Tulowitzki - Colorado Rockies Hanley Ramirez - Florida Marlins Derek Jeter - New York Yankees Jimmy Rollins - Philadelphia Phillies Jose Reyes - New York Mets However I believe you might be asking an opinion question that asks for all-time. In that case I will be partial to a former Big Red Machine shortstop of the 70's and early 80's Davey Concepcion of the Cincinnati Reds. Hope that helps.

Who attacked the San Francisco Giants fan?
Answers: 3 Views: 407 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
The L.A. Police Department have arrested a man by the name of Giovanni Ramirez for the beating that left Brain Stow in coma. It is presumed that their are at least two people still at large for their involvement in the beating. The arrest came after a parole officer called the L.A.P.D. believing that one of his parolees had similarities as the sketch drawn resembling the suspect. The parole officer also noticed "new paint" (tatoo's) on Mr. Ramirez's neck (where the sketch indicated tatoo's). Hope that helps.

HOW MUCH IS THE MEAL ALLOWANCE EACH DAY FOR MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
Answers: 1 Views: 4258 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
I believe the travel game meal money this year is about $106.00 The knee jerk re-action to this $ amount is to say or think to yourself "wow, that is ridiculous". Why and how would a major league team pay their players "meal money" The reality of the topic is that each player is expected to pay a club house fee at each stadium (including their own) of approximately $50.00 each day. And if you can imagine if a player orders anything off of the (expensive hotels they typically stay in) room service menu, it is pretty expensive even for a burger and fries. In addition, any player that leaves tickets for family and friends at any ball park (home or away) is now expected to pay an $12.00 "tax" on the tickets. Typically that tax is paid for by the players "meal money". So you can see that the $106.00 is really hardly enough to cover all of that. Also, keep in mind that players only receive the meal money on away games. The ticket tax, club house fee, etc.... is still in effect at home games. Further, Most if not all cities have stated that players are earning a portion of their salaries in their cities when they play their so the players have to pay income tax in each city that they play in and their agents earn between 3 and 5% of their "gross" income. All together, players pay roughly 50% of their gross income in overhead. The league minimum is roughly $375,000 but the average salary is about 2 million a year. So all being said, it's still a good deal! Hope this helps.

sliding
Answers: 3 Views: 397 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
I do not believe there is a real benefit of sliding into 1st head first due to the fact that the play is a force, not a tag. However, some believe that their is a perception that the runner would beat the ball on a close play. I do not subscribe to this theory, however running through 1st base properly (not stopping the sprint until about 2 feet past the bag) would present the same perception in my opinion. In addition, after sprinting 2 feet past the bag, the runner should break down closing the distance between himself and 2nd base. The runner should then look over his right shoulder for the ball (in case of an over throw). Hope that helps!

how does the second baseman keep the runner from getting a lead?
Answers: 2 Views: 358 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
The best way for the second baseman to keep the runner close is to work with the short stop. The most common way to do that: The short stop begins approximately 10 feet directly behind the runner after the runner has gotten his lead. After the pitcher has come to a "set" position, the shortstop moves in directly behind the runner. At that point, the shortstop will make a determination on whether or not to attempt a pick off. If so, then the shortstop plants his right foot hard to the right side (toward third) and then makes his best move to second base with his glove open. The pitcher should then make his best move to second base. If the shortstop makes the determination that he does not have a reasonable chance at the runner then he should slap his glove and move back to the right. At that point the runner may take an additional step toward third. At that point the "second" baseman has a chance to make his move toward second base with an open glove to pick off the runner. If the second baseman determines that he does not have a reasonable chance to pick off the runner, then he should slap his glove indicating to the pitcher to pitch the ball. The Pitcher should move into his motion to pitch instantly after hearing the second slap from the second baseman. For more information, The coach should determine who (the shortstop or the second baseman) is going to work the runner at second based on the situation: who is up, lefty or righty, what is the history of the runner, etc..... Hope this helps!

what is the infield fly rule in baseball?
Answers: 2 Views: 480 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
The infield fly is a judgement call made by the umpire. There must be 1 or 0 outs, and runners in a force out positions (example: runner on 1st, runners on 1st and 2nd, or bases loaded 1st, 2nd, 3rd.) When the ball is batted into the air, the umpire will make the judgement call on whether or not the ball can reasonably be caught by a defender. In short, it is possible to have an "infield fly" called even if the ball travels outside the "infield".
