Why do people like to eat when they are not hungry ?

Your supposed to eat at designated times everyday, so even if your not hungry you still need to eat. When your hungry that's your body telling," Come on, really your going to starve me like this." Also people like to eat cause they are depressed and eating helps to calm them down.
