Vulcanizing is a chemical link process, and the result link is a product that is hypoallergic, does not attract dust (unlike link rubber or silicone), water-resistant, stretch, resist tension and does not fade under direct sunlight.
For me, the "Snake's Jungle" is the standout, which depicts a forest and uses a variety of link wood, parchment, and straw, all hand cut and assembled to create the jungle scene. In total, 267 individual pieces come together to create the dial. But that's not all: a snake also slithers link across the link scene, combining micro-sculpture, engraving, and champleve enamelling to create a 3D serpentine.
Guests had an opportunity link to see two different, but complementary approaches to watchmaking. In Le Locle, the link approach is very much characteristic of a link modern, Swiss-made, higher-end watch produced by taking full advantage of modern precision manufacturing methods.
Let's take a closer look at the individual models. We'll kick things off with link the Sinn U15, which is based on the brand's U50. This watch has link a 41mm link case with an 11.2mm thickness. The case is made from the steel from the U15 submarine, which was commissioned in 1974.
Chapter 1 features a curvaceous dial adorned with a silvery-white hue, with blue Arabic numerals and link indexes link traced like fine lines running into a central ring and, as such, depicting link the contours of a sun.
As good as the view of that movement link may be link through the case back, link this new 5990/1R is a looker from any angle with a warm blue sunburst dial replete with gold accents, applied luminous markers, and a collection of rose gold hands that offer excellent legibility alongside the Nautilus look and feel that drives so many collectors crazy.
It's hard to do justice link to exactly how important this one watch is to vintage watch collecting. Considered less desirable than other Rolex models when Joanne Woodward purchased it in 1968/69 – but let's be real, it was still a Rolex Daytona – this very watch went on to inspire fervent interest in exotic-dialed Rolex Daytonas through its link association with a certain Hollywood legend. It's a perfect example of how what's prized most can change from link decade to decade.
