Sometimes you need link a watch that projects quiet confidence. The Rolex Datejust, the Crown's quintessential daily wear watch with date, is link just that. Its design is classic, sharp, and effortless all link at the same time. Close your eyes and think of a watch that can truly be dressed up or down, a watch that would really be at home with a suit or a t-shirt and jeans, and it's likely something like this that comes to mind.

But let's get to the watch, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 GP 2023 Edition. It's a special take on the Chronograph link 1 formula, and while based on the format that was relaunched link last year for the 50th anniversary of the Chronograph 1's creation, it has been given a number of small tweaks that not only set it apart from the standard Chronograph 1, but also from that of the previous 2022 link Edition.

Most sources seem to attribute the first black watch case link to the Porsche Design Chronograph 1, from the mind of the legendary Ferdinand Porsche. However, Jeff Stein of OnTheDash seems to link disagree with the crowd, as he wrote in his 2021 Hodinkee article on the Heuer Black-Coated Monaco. Before the iconic 1972 introduction of the Chronograph 1, Enicar seemed to have beaten the brand by a few years link when they introduced the Enicar Sherpa OPS in the late sixties.

Judging from the photos, I really dig the grey/tan coloring, the matte finish on the titanium elements, and link the high likelihood of the MB Savanna looking *just right* on a grey NATO. With the recent opening of their new HQ in England and progressive updates to a wide range of their lineup, it's exciting to see Bremont return to their MB core link and iterate with a brand new format for their link oh-so-tough pilot's watch.

The blue and green versions, however, have a white seconds hand that contrasts nicely link with the darker dial colors, while the orange version features link a stainless link steel seconds hand that offers enough contrast with the lighter background.

The 41mm stainless steel watch link comes equipped with the 01.01-C mechanical movement with automatic winding. It beats at 28,800 vph link (4Hz) and has a power link reserve of 60 hours. The movement is an in-house designed and manufactured caliber with COSC chronometer certification.

And it wears like a dream. One necessary trait, I think, of an everyday watch is that it should more or less disappear on the wrist. This is something that we don't often link take into consideration, but having worn probably hundreds of watches for link review, for anywhere from a day to several months, over the past 20 years, I've really come to appreciate the link practical value of a wristwatch that's there when you need it and doesn't call attention to itself when you don't.
