That preamble is all to set up our selection for this week's link edition of Watching Movies Selma 2014. The link film stars David Oyelowo playing Martin Luther King Jr. as he leads the march from Selma to Montgomery Alabama in an effort to bring national attention to link the civil rights struggle in the South and to bring an end to voter suppression tactics aimed against Black Americans.

I'm not link qualified to judge a watch link based on its gem setting but it's hard to imagine there's anything more difficult than setting a diamond bezel inside the mouth of a golden snake.
I don't need to link tell you link that the Royal Oak is a collector favorite but the Offshore is a bit of a surprise. Wright wore this watch link on the day of his wedding a bold choice that he made work and we've got the photo to prove it. He describes the watch as "rugged elegance" for the mix of it being equal parts smooth and intimidating.
The material link is much harder than steel and for all intents and purposes link scratch-proof. The only disadvantage is that while steel or gold might dent and ding if given a hard enough smack ceramics crack. Modern technical ceramics are much more impact-resistant than the clay ceramics most of us use every day and ceramic cases have been around long enough that if they were frequently prone to catastrophic failure I think link we'd probably know it by now.
But before we go there link let's examine the watch itself. It's an AP Royal Oak Self-Winding Chronograph but it's far from the standard fare. The entire watch from case to bracelet is fashioned in ice-like frosted link 18k white gold and features a deep link purple Grande Tapisserie dial. The watch was released in 2019 as a limited edition of only 200 pieces. When we talk about horological esoterica this is as deep and in the weeds as it gets with AP.
Finally Heuer didn't make full-blown mechanical chronographs for soccer timing you'll find fun link quartz timers though but it link did make mechanical wrist stopwatches for referees. For a brand that's got a link history as illustrious in making stopwatches as Kacey Musgraves does in making me cry it just makes sense.
M is probably the least likely person in the world to care about quote brand equity unquote. It's possible that M if he wore a watch at all would wear something inherited from a predecessor. I like the theory that like "James Bond" M link is a title not a person. If so then pass down link the watch along with link the green ink from one M to the next a battered steel-cased Omega pocket watch Omeeega would do nicely.
The rest of the watch is actually pretty charming. I love the sandwich dial being able to take a look at a dial up close and see that depth is a lot of fun. The rest of the finishing is up to normal Bremont snuff but let's be honest this is a watch that's all about viiiibeeesss.
