Do you think man will ever be able to successfully navigate a Black hole?
Answers: 13 Views: 2692 Rating: 5 Posted: 13 years ago
This is common misconception... A "black hole" is not a real "hole," but a single point (a singularity) of ultimate density and gravity. It looks and acts like a hole because this are sucked toward it and spiral toward it, but they end up at this infinitely small point of unimaginable gravity. Other than being destroyed by the gravity (spagettification - where something is pulled apart over and over again), no ones know what if any else could occur. So, you less go "into" a black hole than "become a part of" as that single point in the center. This could potentially lead to worm hole and other odd things, but the conventional wisdom now is just good old complete destruction... And then there is the problem of getting to a black hole - which would take a couple hundred thousand years with any current technology - which kind of defeats the purpose.

what is the solubility of oil and water
Answers: 8 Views: 2457 Rating: 0 Posted: 13 years ago
Oil and water are mixed all the time - often to make the product you use everyday. "Melandrupert" is basically correct because when they are mixed an emulsion is created. To do this, you need and emulsifer, whose actual chemical name is a surfactant. Surfactants are two-ended molecules that grab onto different chemical substance that normally 'bounce" off of each other. By using the correct surfactant and the right mixing technique you can get the oil and water to mix. You can make an oil in water emulsion - where small oil droplets, coated with surfactant, end up floating around in the water, or a water in oil emulsion, which is just the opposite. A simple example is soap. It is a surfactant and works because it coats dirts and makes it compatible with water - which then washes it away. Water would bounce off the dirt with out the surfactant - it forms a very quick and simple emulsion, and washes away. And believe me, you probably come in contact with and use emulsions all day long and don't even realize it. MANY daily products and food are based on emulsion and surfactant technology.

with all this rain and flooding in the mid-west, why can't we take some of the water out of the rivers put it into tanker cars and use trains to bring it down to the areas of the wild fires. it might help solve two problems
Answers: 2 Views: 246 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
Cost and the fact you could never transport enough water to do the job (on either end - bringing enough to make a difference or taking enough to make a difference). It would cost WAY more than any benefit that could be achieved. It is not that they do not have enough water where it is needed, it is getting it to the remote fires and having it do any good in the desert environment. Besides, they have chemical retardants that are more effective than water, and physical ways of fighting the fire. Bringing water from as far away as the midwest is just not physically, economically, or logistically possible, nor would it really do any good.

Big Foot, Skunk Ape, Abdomible Snow Man, why are there so many sighting?
Answers: 8 Views: 2712 Rating: 5 Posted: 13 years ago
There are sightings because it is out there. And yes, it is possible that there are species out there that haven't been discovered. It happens everyday and history is riddled with rumored creatures - and those thought extinct - being discovered. Of course there are hoaxers and miss-identifications, but the evidence is pretty hard to ignore.

When is Megan Kelly going to return to "America Live" on Fox news?
Answers: 1 Views: 534 Rating: 1 Posted: 12 years ago
Nothing has been announced, but she will be back when she is good and ready. Let her enjoy the new child as long as she wants. I will miss her too, but she deserves and should take as much time as she feels she needs. I am sure she is not hurting for money, and her priorities just might change.

How do I recieve and send a fax on my laptop computer
Answers: 2 Views: 254 Rating: 0 Posted: 12 years ago
Connect a phone line to your computer - if it has a telephone jack. If it doesn't, you are screwed, but if it does you should have or be able to find software that will send and receive faxes. It is out there, but again your computer must have an internal modem and a phone line jack before you can do anything.
