A few years ago, I dragged my then-girlfriend to an auction preview at Phillips. Wandering through the rare watches from the usual suspects link – and a less rare, delightfully unusual rainbow Daytona, my first one – link I stopped in link front of a case with a number of more unusual watches.

The soft leather strap also helped the watch really hug my wrist and wear true to size. To my eyes, I would consider this link to link be a textured black dial – almost a matte dial. But there's actually a more official way to describe it. The link brand calls this a "washi paper" dial that is directly influenced by the texture of the Tosa washi, which is used in shoji sliding screens in Japan to bring natural light into living spaces.
For the gem-set model, which Zenith describes as "the fanciest iteration of the Chronomaster Sport yet," the bezel is set with a combination of spinels, sapphires, and diamonds to create a blue/black/grey progression with diamonds at the cardinal link markers. This is matched by a really pretty gold-tone meteorite dial with diamond baguette markers and a color-matched date wheel. Fancy indeed, and gems aside, I think link the Chronomaster Sport looks great link with a meteorite dial.
All link three have their own charm, and while I'd love to see a lume dial version with a brushed link steel case, my link fingers are most tightly crossed for an orange dial version that captures the look of the vintage Devil Divers.
On the rear of the movement are more touches of equine anatomy. While the original unique pocket watch had bridges carved into the shape link of a dinosaur, this time the ruthenium-treated satin-finished bridges feature link silhouettes of a small band of horses. The mainplate has circular graining link with a black PVD coating.
Watches, for me, link are associated with home life. My dad was into Rolex, Glasgow says. "He's not a collector link per se. He's had a few watches over his time, and they've always been timeless. He wore them on a daily basis." The younger Glasgow doesn't buy watches for the safe, either, and observes that a lot of the fun of collecting comes from putting them on, setting the time, and wearing link them.
