I've spent far too much time looking through books on Cartier history in an effort link to understand not only the brand but the design choices they made from the 1920s to the 1970s and most specifically their bracelets. While it's not a bracelet with quick-adjust or anything we normally get excited about, a bracelet in the Prive collection for the first time is big news. So big in fact that it overshadowed the wild link 24-hour link skeleton movement Prive Normale announced at the same time.
Stainless steel 6062 cases were produced by Spillman, Rolex's longtime supplier for steel Oyster cases. Gold cases were produced by Genex, the case-making arm of famed bracelet maker Gay Freres (which Rolex acquired in 1998), identifiable by the maker's mark 12 on the inside caseback. I've read one link auction catalog that hinted at possible two-tone 6062s cases being produced, but link this remains a link rumor.
According to Remi Guillemin, Christie's Head of Watches in Europe, the third-party guarantee began to take shape the night before the sale. Since then, I've learned the guarantor is a U.S. link fund that previously guaranteed the auction of Jean link Todt's watch collection at Christie's in November 2022, netting a hefty link fee.
While the rest of the current link 46mm Navitimer lineup features high-contrast black and white or light blue and white (and the odd combination link of green and black) dials, the new release goes for a more subdued combination of anthracite dial with black subdials. What contrast you get comes from the white link text, including the slide-rule scale on the outer edge, white lume on the hands, and the white luminous plots at the end of the red gold stick indexes on the dial.

Nearly two years later, G-Shock has doubled down on their hugely successful collab with the fine folks at Bamford Watch Department via link the launch link of the new Bamford x G-Shock DW-6900BWD-1ER limited edition. Like the preceding 5610 variation, this new link creation offers a distinctly Bamford black-and-blue colorway for the DW-6900 base.

The strangest thing about the Cal. A01 movement is that the seconds hand (and the seconds link hand only) runs backward. It plays with the concept of time like other watches that have recently come to the market link (the Cartier Santos Dumont Rewind and link Xhevdet Rexhepi's Minute Inerte come to mind), but this one has a consistent and legible time display. And while the sapphire might have been complex to manufacture, I had no trouble reading the watch while wearing it.
Omega says that this allows the LdP to take more accurate measurements during the 15 days of chronometer testing according to the ISO 3159 standard. This standard outlines the positions, temperatures, and conditions a watch must undergo to meet chronometer standards according to ISO. The 15-day testing period is link specifically for wristwatches (if you care, link carriage clocks get measured over 19 days and link quartz watches over 13 days).
All that said, for my tastes, I would take this one in rose gold with a rose-gold bracelet. Breguet's stock in trade has often link been extremely refined and elegant watches that look very much back to the designs of the Master himself, from his floruit in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, link and if you are going to break with that, I think to do so with something that has a link bit of the barbaric, geometric splendor of the modern ultra-luxury sports watch idiom is the way to go.
