You need some powerful insecticide to spray around wherever the dog settles himself regularly.Flea eggs have the ability to lay dormant for a year or so & be instantly hatched when a likely blood meal walks by.Sounds a bit Sci Fi but it is a fact.
Do you have "BAYGON" where you live? It's a residual surface spray & it usually works. There are other products available from produce stores but the stronger they get the more dangerous they get.
You're going to have to flea bomb your house and get a frontline type flea deterrent for your dog.

Boric acid can be used to dry out the flea eggs it's especially effective on carpet. The cheapest way to purchase it is in the laundry isle at the grocery store in a box of Borax (Twenty Mule Team) laundry additive.

That's the only way to get rid of roaches, too

Yes, it's great for killing all types of uninvited guests. Lol.
I don't know if you're in a house with a yard or an apartment. If you're in charge of taking care of your own yard, it's VERY important to treat the grass with an insecticide. We use the granule type, and concentrate it around the foundation of the house. Fleas just absolutely love grass, so treating the yard gets them at the source. Also, today's flea collars are extremely effective. If you have lots of upholstery and carpeting (which fleas also love), use a flea spray. All of these methods completely eradicated our fleas several months ago. And we had them so bad that I had to spray myself with OFF insect repellent to be able to sleep at night.
spray his sleeping quarters with that flea spray that has perithimen (sp) in it. Then spray your carpet, furniture, beds. closets, etc, lightly with that spray. It doesn't smell bad, like Raid. I've been doing that for 11 years, adn it never made me or my cats sick.
you will probably have to do a flea bomb.Your vet should be able to give your dog an heartworm pill that also prevents fleas. 2 for 1, that's a good deal. Hope this helps.
    That too, Catgirl
