I think when I was young and vain it was more difficult, but now that I've reached my 40's I have no problem saying I'm sorry. It could have been a prideful thing, now I apologize to someone even if I think I was right for saying whatever it was, just because it may have hurt someone's feelings and that alone is worth apologizing for.

Saying “I’m sorry” for my mistake, for having misunderstood the question, for having misunderstood your intention in your question or answer….is important to me because I am making an effort to present a clear and understandable comment that is relevant and funny or informative or interesting, etc (in case I left anything out).

An honest "I'm sorry" means more to me that "I love you". I don't know why people think it is a sign of weakness or are too proud to admit they were "wrong". If someone can say "I'm sorry", it tells me that person actually cares about how I feel. That's huge.
I don't have a problem at all saying, "I'm sorry" when I'm wrong or have inadvertently caused pain to someone. I don't TRY to hurt people's feelings or make them unhappy or uncomfortable.

the words , " I'm sorry " are not part of a man's vocabulary. My dad never said it , neither did my late husband. My brother never said it and he used to hit me all the time. And God forbid if Ron, my late husbands' best friend was to ever say " I'm sorry " for some selfish thing he did.
But, women say it often .
