      Basically the Demarcates believe in a large government and the republican party a smaller government but once in office they seem to only care about themselves.

          Resembles the contrast between the British Labour Party and Conservative Party. The biggest difference between the two occurs during the election campaign when both parties try to clearly differentiate themselves from each other on the left-right spectrum. Once in power, however, the "great divide" vanishes.
          Tony Blair and Barack Obama are good examples.

            The reference to Blair was to point to his involvement in the Irak war, not what you'd expect from Labor. I'm aware Dave Cameron is your new P.M.

              Sorry negotiatenow my Aussie mate wants to know what is the difference between your Democrat party and your republican party. He knows what a democracy is.
              I know he is a bit slow but winter starts in a couple of days and our brains are getting a bit numb. Sorry bulletman couldn`t resist taking the piss.
