He's not mature enough or committed enough to say NO to temptation. There has to be Love and Respect before the relationship between him and you will work. He has neither. If he can't take responsibility for his own actions that night how can he take responsibility for a child!?! A child is for the next 18 years! Yes once a cheater, always a cheater.

Tell him to marry you or leave, he will run and not look back, then sue for child support. Don't lay with another man that you can't trust and are not married to.

Look, I agree that cheating is likely in the future. It is especially true if you let him off the hook. Right now the ball is in your court. The way to certain termination of your relationship is to let him off with excuses. Can you forgive him and try this over? Yes , but not without complete accountability and a plan to move forward. The risk you take for the sake of the child might be worth trying to start over. Not knowing the situation its hard to give specific advice. But I would let him know in clear terms , what has to happen if you are to stay with him. It is best to involve a 3rd party, preferably a counselor in this negotiation. He now has to prove to you that it was a mistake etc. If you let him give you excuses you will be sealing your fate for sure. Don't be surprised if it does not work out,but let that reason be because he was not willing to respect you enough to remain loyal. Second chances are okay. Third and fourth chances are careless and will result in perpetual manipulation.
