    my soil in the yard id dead.

    When I put tomatoes in the garden... They do not seem to grow much.

    Instead of trying to grow a plant, focus on growing your soil.
    Soil should be a living thing with helpful micro-organisms, earth worms,...a whole living system. This makes a good environment for healthy plants.
    Put compost on your land, and don't destroy your beneficial organisms with chemicals. Read on Permaculture for more!
    I don't know how big your garden is...but...an equal mixture of peat moss, perculite, and mushroom compost with a tablespoon of lime ...remove the soil from your tomato area and replace it with your new soil...be sure to add one cup of water every three days per plant
