Is it legal for a manager to change your timecard without an explanation?

Managers have the right to change time cards to reflect actual hours worked. If you feel there is a discrepancy between the hours you worked and the hours you were paid, you can bring it to your manager. The manager should tell you why the changes were made. A time card reflects a contract between employee and employer. It must be signed and any changes have to be signed by the one making the changes. If he/she refuses to do so or refuses to explain the changes you can take the matter up with the Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor 1-866-487-9243
