In Canada, the Last penny was minted on may 2012. The distribution was discontinued from 5th February 2013 but you can still use them as a legal tender if you have any with you.

Why do you call them penny's ???.when they have Cents written on them..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..
You CAN still use them but only if the business will accept them. They are not legally obligated to do so anymore and in my area of Canada (at least at the businesses with whom I deal) they do not.
I'm 76 years of age and I've never seen a 2 cent coin. Our 1 cent coin was discontinued a long time ago (4-5 years) and is not accepted anywhere. We round up or down accordingly.

They call them a Loonie and a Toonie. I live near Canada. We used do go to the Windsor Casino or to Toronto and get plenty of Canadian coins. Then I'd take them to the bank here and ask them to convert them to U.S. and they wouldn't do it. >:-O We even went to Toronto for our honeymoon.
