Do you count your steps when you walk?

Roy has one way he walks to the shops and back because he says it's the quickest. I have counted the amount of steps between his way and mine and it's 65 steps so would you take a short cut if it only saved you a minute?    Do you count your steps just for fun?

You guys walk ? We drive everywhere.........even down to the corner drug store ( pharmacy ) .You would take more steps than he does anyway, CB, b/c his gait ( stride ) is longer .

I'm 5' 9" and Roy is 4' 2" so my stride is longer MCM. :)

I actually do count steps sometimes. I walk everyday and if it seems like I still have a long way to go (due to bad weather or feeling tired), I say in my head, "Okay, it's probably less than 200 steps until I'm there". Then I start counting. It just makes the trip a little easier. (Okay so I'm weird....too.)

I'm with you weirdo! It takes a "LOT" of concentration to count steps. OOH Look at that penny on the pavement!

Last time it was a quarter and two dimes! lol

I start off counting and then enter an hypnotic state and forget as I enter la la land……...

    Do sheep fly? LOL

As long as we're counting, add me to the "weirdo" club, because I certainly DO count steps.  I actually use my toes to count, alternating left foot to right, as I pass by the dotted white lines when I'm driving and count to 12 repeatedly.  I do not have a reason for this.
Oh, golly, it sounds like I'm going to qualify for president of the club.....

    That's great Madam President! LOL

No, if I start doing that it will flare up my obsessive compulsive disorder . I used to do it as a kid.I got out of that years ago.

No imagining here Terry, I'm with you. LOL

Counting your steps is OCD behavior.

    Bob/PKB

Well, for once, you are in the ballpark. Counting steps is a symptom of OCD, not a diagnosis.

Maybe for some MCM. There are 3 different routs (at least) to the shop where Roy and I visit frequently and I wasn't convinced his route was the shortest so for grins and giggles I counted the steps and it turns out one of the ways I like to walk is only 35 steps difference so no big deal. There are also 3 different ways to get to the doc office and one of those routes adds an extra 10 or so minutes to the walk. I count my steps out of curiosity not because I'm OCD!

I'm fairly certain that I'm not OCD.

Now girls, stop acting like 5th graders. Why 5th graders is beyond me. Farts are funny from the get-go. SHARTS, however, aren't, so I've heard, but never experienced.

PKB, why do you always have to be so effin snarky to me ? And the mod doesn't help much, b/c she's snarky to me too.

@mcm...Please stop feeling so sorry for yourself. Every single time you come on here, you are crying the blues about something. I frankly, get tired of it. Furthermore, there is no one who gets snarkier with ME, than YOU! Now and again, I will get snarky right back. Tonight's the night. Mod or not, I do have the right to speak up and I will.
    Bob/PKB

Thanks for fielding that one for me, Ducky. I was going to suggest the esteemed member might want to start walking to the drug store once in a while instead of driving to the end of the block.....fresh air, clearing the mind.....

    P L just said it's O C D
    Bob/PKB

OH, well, then, that settles it! Do you honestly believe counting your steps is an automatic diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or could it may be just a SYMPTOM?
And, trust me, you really don't want me to give any more examples.
Could the ice get any thinner here?

It is said that we should walk 10,000 steps per day, which is 5 miles or 8 KM.

    How many do this much?

I've heard the same thing, very few people I suppose.
    Bob/PKB

I have one of those step counters and used it during my trip "back east" with Julie. This fall, I parked my car on the far east side of campus and walked to my class on the far west side of campus, counting the steps so I'd know how much walking I'd need to do in addition to whatever that x2 turned out to be. My stride is relatively short, so 3 1/2 - 4 miles is good for me. Of course, I'm avoiding lines and cracks in the sidewalks, too.
