    CALIFORNIA, here she comes...

A friend of mine is coming for a visit in late July.  Our current plans, out of necessity, will revolve around Central California and parts of Southern California.

If you were on your way, knowing the "restrictions", what would you want to do and see most?

So excited for both of you! :))))

Sit in a beach bar and chill out, I live in a wee flat in Bonny Scotland, I have an HD TV,I'm watching the world cup as I type with one half of a good eye, seems silly for the expense, but I'm only human, I like my comforts, who'd've thunk!

    Bob/PKB

I'd better turn on the TV. Tentatively planned for Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier (a walking distance from VB), Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Carmel, and Monterey. She arrives in Los Angeles, and we are going to take CA Highway 1 to go north. :D

Good luck, we wish we were with you (maybe someday) Chile are beating Spain BTW.
    Bob/PKB

It would be a real pleasure to have you all here! Any time

But alas, neither Bob nor I will be drinking. We can sit in a bar and watch the scenery prance by……….

    I get it now.
I want to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, drive up/down Ventura Blv., attend the Fresno County Blossom Trail, Knott's Berry Farm and take a tour of celebrity homes.
    Bob/PKB

We won't be going north to San Francisco, unless it is just to cross the bridge. Blossom Trails are all green now, but we could bicycle one of them, very early. Knott's is a maybe, and I think we may skip Disneyland for Universal Studios. Whatever my guest wants.
Oh, I was at one of our rivers yesterday, and it was peaceful, except I took the dog, who barked nearly non-stop for five hours, except for the extremely scary moments when he was hurdled downstream in the rapids. Fortunately, prayers are sometimes answered immediately (my time) and he got to the RIGHT shore safely. When I caught up with him, the leash and extension went on and stayed on! Losing three dogs in less than a month??? NO CAN DO.

I know you both will have a blast. I went to Universal Studios in Florida on my birthday (I lived in Orlando for a year), but we only had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. I know Universal will be fun. Thank God your dog is safe!

    No SF?
    Bob/PKB

CB: My poor cousin, taking us to the river for a relaxing afternoon. She drove upstream and found a fisherman. "Have you seen a dog floating in the river and a woman screaming?" Very peaceful...

Julie: LA is over 200 miles from where I live, and SF is another 200 in the opposite direction, and it is not a drive-friendly place, especially for my car, with a standard transmission and lots of stoplights at hilltops. I'm looking at a map and trying to figure out a way to make it work for a Ghiradelli Square/Pier 39 type of outing, crossing the bridge. California is about 1000 miles from North to South, and I have to figure out how to make the most of the trip without short-changing experiences. I'm working on it.

    Oh, well……..

I would most want to meet YOU and then we could go wherever you choose or just sit around and talk. It would all be fun I'm guessing.           :)

    Bob/PKB

You are a sweetheart, Ducky. I do hope we get to meet some day! We'll have an early tee time!!

Perfect! Can we golf (well) and talk at the same time? lol
    Bob/PKB

Without a doubt. My game won't suffer from it. You've been duly advised, warned, given advance notice...

    Now I'm frightened. :)
    Bob/PKB

Yes, be afraid. Be very afraid. My golf game is atrocious!! I would never make a noise while you are taking your turn, of course!

You’ve taken the words right out of my mouth…..

    Have loads of fun!

You can borrow our tower of london for a day or so,

    Bob/PKB

Actually, we have some cool stuff, too. Yosemite National Park, Pinnacles, Sequoia National Park, Sun Maid Raisins originate here...no giant tower with a savage history, which is very interesting, to be sure, and I even have a book about it, but good stuff anyway. OH, we have "Underground Gardens" too, so that's something else to put on the list. Thanks! You've been very helpful today, as usual. :D

Don't let your Crown jewels get away so easily Dougal.
    Bob/PKB

    ..or the family jewels?
    hector5559

No problem Miss Bob,why not take them bowling,
    hector5559

I Trust Bob with my Jewels,
    ROMOS

    And not me Dougal?
    Bob/PKB

Bob is happy and will take good care of the jewels, all of them.
She will definitely be going with me on my bowling nights. I think my cousin and another friend will be there, too, to keep her company while I bowl a 300. :D

Just being with you will be a great comfort & pleasure for her Phyl. I think that girl relly needs a good friend.

    hector5559

    if you say so Tommmyh,
    Bob/PKB

Hopefully, it will be a trip that brings her good memories to last a lifetime. :D
I really appreciate your answer, Tom. If you and yours are ever in California, it would be an honor, privilege, and pleasure to spend some time with you.
    jhharlan

Thank you so much, Tommy. Wish you could meet us there for a pint!

Have a blast girls (am I allowed to call you that?)  All the best, do not forget to drink some good wine...

    jhharlan

Been a long time since I was call a girl but I’ll take that sentiment with me!

stroll round town and make sure you have your phone with you just in case

    and be home before 9pm

    Bob/PKB

You have no idea how ironic the phone comment is, sjpp. Glad you're back!
    slimjimpopo

thanks dont understand what you mean i was simply thinking of the movie Taken
    Bob/PKB

Oh my, that won't be a problem.
My son let his phone battery die and didn't let me know he wasn't coming home for a couple of days. I always go to the "worst case scenario) and was frantic. Having the phone is fine; having a strong battery for it is a necessity.
    slimjimpopo

it reminds me of one TV program on natgeo about worst case scenarios although you should always think positively you should also be ready for worst cases
    Bob/PKB

    Agree 100%
    slimjimpopo

i would join you for your stroll if you would pay my flight
    Bob/PKB

That isn't going to happen this year! Maybe next year... :D

    Did AL,jolson sing that Bob,??

    Bob/PKB

1921 Broadway musical, Bombo, yes, sir.
    hector5559

it was a great film with Larry Parks,
    Bob/PKB

Never seen it, but will try to find it and enjoy
