    UPDATE ON DAVID:

My grandson David, went home with Dad on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, 30 days after being being born unexpectedly at home and measuring high in opiates.  He still has some opiates in his system, but doctors feel he should be able to withdraw without too much stress at this point.  He is alert, insists on being held (which hasn't been a problem for anyone), and has a home filled with sobriety and unconditional love.
Mommy Dearest is in a rehab program for at least 180 days. Her sincerity for help is a big ? (question mark) for me, but I do wish her well. Her 5 year old is in another state with an aunt, who shares custody with paternal grandparents.  How Mommy plans to unite her children and be a responsible, productive, clean, contributing member of society remains to be seen.  My son has full legal and physical custody, and generally will call the shots about visiting and everything else regarding David for the time being. He is in school 2 mornings/week, while Grandpa Wonderful baby-sits, and I (hope to be called Gigi - as in Grumpy Grandma) am on duty Thursdays for an early evening class he attends.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUING GOOD WISHES AND PRAYERS FOR DAVID AND HIS FAMILY.  WE ALL KNOW THIS IS A QUESTION AND ANSWER FORUM, BUT IT IS ALSO A GATHERING PLACE FOR FRIENDS, AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. BLESSINGS TO ALL OF YOU!

And as you know, my thoughts are always with you and those closest to you Phyllis, I hope "mum" gets all the help she needs and finally comes to her senses, but personally I wouldn't be holding my breath. Good luck Gigi ;)

Me, neither. When I count my blessings, you are up at the top of the list. By the way, I managed to be #1 on a Candy Crush score, level 148. Check it out before it disappears

Bob, so glad to hear that things are going this well.  Your son has proven to be quite the man and will with your help, raise a healthy happy little boy.  As for the mom, God only knows how she will turn out, hopefully, better than anyone can expect!  We just got the word this morning that we are expecting our fourth grandchild (from our Son) in Sept.  Our prayers go out to you and your family.  Warmest Regards, Bus.

My prayers and good wishes are with you all.  Stay possitive.

Really sorry to hear you are going through this with your family. Some people just are not capable of functioning on their own in society and follow the needs ,beliefs, or expectations society sets. Thus they end up in prison.   She must be scared straight. She must relearn good decision making or she will be visiting children while in prison. With her background sounds like she could be in for 6-12 years if she gets arrested for drug offense. Good luck to you. There is hope.

zorro, it may be the wakeup call she so desperately needs. She is still talking about when she gets out of rehab as though she will be moving in with my son as though nothing has happened. Meanwhile, Son is taking care of business and loving his son unconditionally. :D
