I think dinner is a northern saying while supper is more apt to be southern!  Either way I am up to go to either! Who is buying?

I've wondered about that too. I guess it depends on what part of the country you're from , your age,, and your education. My parents called it supper, but when I got out in the world, I learned that most of my peers and people in bigger cities call it dinner. Certainly when you go out to a more expensive restuarant, you say you're going out to dinner, not supper.
