A pinched nerve can cause that. See a doctor.

When my g.friend's husb was complaining of L arm  numbness and tingling, he ended up having a heart attack. He survived, T G . He found out then that he has diabetes, too.

If it is mostly burning and stinging in your hand and travels into your lower arm it may be Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. This is common in people who use their hands in a repetative motion alot such as typing on a computer, working on a assembly line, ect. I was diagnosed with it years ago and after many visits to all of kinds of doctors I was referred to a hand specialist who did surgery to correct the problem. I have to say that recovery from the surgery is painful & difficult but worth it. I can hold a coffee cup in my right hand without pain or fear of dropping it.  You should not rule out other conditions and should see a good family doctor to make sure that it is not cardiac related.
