    how big of a beam do i need to span 12 ft? it is not carrying any weight. we want to hang another bean off of it.

    thank you but I had a hard time understanding which model to choose from. I thought the third example was best but don't know if a and b are in feet? I'll go back and see if I can get more info.

    A & B show a load on top of the beam. P (in c) I believe would be the stress factor or the weakest point.
