In case you don't know , this day 26th January, 1788 , Capt. Arthur Phillip landed at Botony Bay, better known as Sydney Harbour with a fleet of ships filled with convicts, little did they know they were to become the First Aussies of this Great Nation, Australia --- TRUE BLUE.

Wishing you Aussies a fun-filled day of safe celebration. So, officially, how old is Australia ? Do you have an Independence Day or a "Date of Birth" ?

    bulletman

Digger, Australia is 235 years old since first settlement, today is our 'Date of Birth' as you put it, we are an independant nation, as yet not a Republic, we are a member like Canada, part of the Commonwealth.

    Good Australia day !!

Have a Great Day..and as Colleen says stay safe! xx

Have a great day . Enjoy!

    To all you Aussies.

Thanks for continuing to check in Tommy. Still hoping the best for you and yours.

Makes our "4th of July" seem like an amateur.....

Somehow i don't think so,especially for those who are in big trouble this year because of the floods in Queensland which Tom is caught up in, i'm afraid he and his family will not be celebrating,he may not be able to communicate with us as his area have no power.

I'm still here. Finally got some sleep last night. The floods peak today but they won't get to us.We are very high & dry.We copped a little bit of damage from the winds.Lost the roof off one of the sheds. My daughter had a 60ft. Norfolk pine tree land in her back yard.Minimal damage tho,it didn't hit the house. The little town of Laidley to our west has been totally evacuated.Poor buggers. The whole place is under water.4 lives lost so far due to this weather event. One of them a 3 yo toddler.A gum tree fell on him.Very sad.

Oh Julie...I'm so sorry. How easily we forget that others have their problems.Don't worry about us. We're OK.

Happy Australia Day. I do know so many are in trouble. Tommy has no electricity? Sorry. Who else?
