At approximately 3:15pm this afternoon, there was an ammonia leak at the Twin Arenas. The facility was immediately evacuated, and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responded and secured the scene. The leak was capped by around 4:00pm.

There were no reports of injuries to any members of the public. Surrounding residents have been advised to 'shelter in place' or they may choose to leave the area.

The public is asked to stay clear of the area until further notice. The arena is closed until further notice. The City will provide updates as new information becomes available.
