Were you granted permanent custody through the courts ?If so, you need do nothing. You will be her primary carer until she turns 18.If there has been no court ruling that she has been placed into your care,  the child's parents have to give you permission to keep the child permanently. This process is done legally through the court system. If child welfare was ever involved in the placement of your grand daughter, they could possibly tell you how to start proceedings.

Why do you need to adopt her? You are already in a very strong position as her custodial grandparent.

If you have permanent custody, are you paying for her needs now? What do you mean by adopt her? She's already your granddaughter  You can't be her mother or at least shouldn't be. Permanent means you are her custodial parent until she reaches 18 yrs old. You make all decisions concerning her life. What more are you looking for?
