    How come dogs do not bark as much when they get older?

    They are not as excitable as they once were.They are maturing........

    Strange, female dogs tend to yap more as they get older.

    Both my male and female are barkers. Age is not slowing them down nor, is persistent training.

    It's pretty transparent what you are saying here Nom and I caution you to be more wise about using this forum to make a dig at females. I've changed your wording because AKC or not, the B word is not pleasant to look at, especially under the guise you used it. Umbriel has been suspended from this forum because of his digs. You do not want to be the next one.

    They're just like people who like to hear themselves talk. As they grow older, the hearing starts to "go" , in dogs, as in people.

    Like most people, mentaly healthy dogs tend to slow down and get less excited as they age.
