Cooking or grilling veggies, adding beans (black, red, lentils etc), or adding a side of pasta can make a meal seem warmer and friendlier during an Indian Summer.  Of course, around here, and Indian Summer comes with 90+ deg. heat...so I'll just call them early fall ideas.

Lamb stew!  With all of the freshly harvested root vegetables!  Of course, you have to take out a mortgage to buy the lamb now days... But you cannot beat it for a comfort food for cool weather.
