The browsers do not matter. It sounds like you have a preferred search engine saved to the computer. That is the engine any browser will use.

This is for XP but it should still work for Windows 7. I assume that's what you use. These are the instructions for changing your default or preferred search engine.

    Instructions
    Making Changes

    1
    Open Internet Explorer.

    2
Press "+T" to open the tools menu, then click "Internet Options." It is generally placed at the bottom of the list.

The Internet Options window will appear.

    3
Click the "General" tab if it is not already highlighted. On the general tab are various settings you can change in Internet Explorer. The third choice on the window, approximately three-fourths of the way down, is the search option. Click the "Settings" button to change the search defaults.

The change search defaults window will appear with some search providers listed. Some computers may only have one search engine listed here, while others will have several choices.

    4
If your preferred search engine is listed here, click on it. Click "Set default," then skip to Step 8. If your preferred provider is not listed, go to Step 5.

    5
Click "Find more providers..." on the bottom left of the window.

You will be taken online to the web page that will allow you to add search providers to Internet Explorer.

    6
Click on the search engine of your choice. A window will appear to confirm that you want to add the search provider to Internet Explorer. Check the box beside "Make this my default search provider."

    7
    Click the "Add Provider" button.

    8
Click "OK" on the change search defaults window to close the window.

    9
Click "OK" on the Internet Options window to close the window.

Would you care to share your phone number with me? This would be easier if I just guide you over the phone. You can e-mail me the number. Or try to follow these instructions....

Start button, control panel, in the control panel search bar type in default search engine, this opens another box where it says internet options, click that, a new box pops up,look down the list and see change search defaults, click settings, this opens another box, there you will see a list of search engines available. Select the one you want as your default and click set as default or you can remove any search engine you do not want from the list also.

I'll send you my number. I don't use Internet Explorer, I use Mozilla Firefox. Julie

Your operating system defaults to IE though. That's why you have to go through IE to make changes.
