Robot Curiosity landed on Mars yesterday & NASA says people should be able to move there by 2025, hopefully. How do you feel about that?

this is perhaps a case of  of global A.D.D we should focus our energy and money on correcting  the problems that face us on the planet that we already reside ,if we cant get it done here what gives us the arrogance or the right to go and mess it up somewhere else.

yes, and where'd they get the 2 billion $ $ to finance this electronic expedition ? Our country is broke, and greatly in debt. The large cities are deteriorating .....especially the schools.

    i agree!!

How much will Home Depot charge to deliver a load of lumber for my house?  That's a lot of mileage!

they are saying it going to take about 1/2 million to get there & its going to be so expensive that people might look to just move there.

    You could go again dennis.

I am against space exploration. Its messing with nature. It is a fact, that there is so much debris floating around in space that was left behind . It is certainly not a good thing to disturb our solar system. I think it may also have something to do with our change in global weather.

It seems that litter gets thrown around in space, just like it does here on earth. :(

Ducky, you are right. They are starting new landfills in outer space.

I will be, if I can get my lumber from Home Depot at a reasonable price.

    must be the martians.

I think there is a lot  to learn   from going there  not just  as explorers but  could our planet go the same way as  Mars  has done, Also  I think we will find that  at one time in its past  Life did exist  on Mars but is now long gone extinct,  maybe we can learn  what happened and not go extinct ourselves.

Great Point. Hope you are right.

what makes the diff? we are spening millions of dollars to explore a dead planet. just what do they expect to learn? those big bucks could be going to help starving people instead of being used to go to a dead ass planet to learn what? whats the knowledge need for? nothing. to satisfy a curiosity.

If Washington DC has anything to do with this plan...I'm out.

    tabber

Not too much Washington. Matter of fact they cut back on space exploration funding. It's the very rich funding. I believe the guy that started Paypal is putting a lot of money into getting in to outer space.

Compared to a trip to the South Pole on earth….I would go for the South Pole…I have not gone to the South Pole because I don’t like the cold….Mars is less hospitable than the South Pole….I would  not go to Mars, they don't  have anything there, not even air…..OK, if the earth blew-up we would all rather be on Mars….so when the earth blows up I’ll go to Mars so don’t threaten me with the earth blowing up because I know it’s just a trick to get me on Mars so you can have earth for yourself.

sure, if you want to live on a planet that's 160 degrees F.  and has no oxygen.  I'd like to send all my enemies there.

and what happened to that other Mars rover they had? Wasn't that one good enough ?
