Scoliosis is a condition where the spine is abnormally curved, affecting posture and leading to longterm spinal/movement problems..It can be heredetory..but often is idiopathic..ie no cause located.

Depending on the severity,it can be treated in different ways, although if your spine is curved above 45 degrees,it is most common to have surgery in which a spinal fusion is carried out with rods and screws to straighten the spine..The most serious problems it can cause if left untreated is the risk of internal organs eg lungs being compressed,(Causing Obstruction to breathing)...It IS A SERIOUS CONDITION..BUT THE EARLIER TREATED THE BETTER!!!...And it can put pressure on the discs and cause pain...it is usually degenerative(Gets worse with time and age)...So please see your GP for a referral or advice!!....i`M SURE YOU`LL BE GLAD THAT YOU HAVE!!!:-0     ALL THE BEST,Millie xx

Sideways curve of the spine or back bone.Confare it with your Doctor.

The curvature of the spine into an "S" shape. The acuteness of the curve varies and usually stabilizes (stops curving more) once the body quits growing. In extreme cases, spinal fusion is necessary to stop the accentuation.

    Much more common amongst females.
