    Y = -2X -5

    The slope of this problem is -2  >  m = -2

    The y-intercept is -5  >  b = -5

    You can give (x) a value, then graph the set of points and draw a line.

    x = 1   >  y = -2(1) - 5  >   y = -2 - 5 = -7  >  (1, -7)

    x = 2  >  y = -2(2) - 5  >  y = - 4 - 5 = -9    >  (2, -9)

    x = 3   >  y = -2(3) - 5   >  y = -6 - 5 = -11  >  (3, -11)

    To see if your calculations is right, just take any two sets of points and find the slope. If your answer is -2, then your calculations is right.

             y2 - y1           (1, -7)  (2, -9)  >   -9 - (-7) =  -9 + 7 = -2            -2

    m = -------------                                                          ----------------  =   -----  = - 2

              x2 - x1                                                               2 - 1 = 1              1

    Or,

    On the graph, go to the y-axis and go to -5. b = the y-intercept.  Go down two points because -2 is the slope and go to the right one point for x. Put a dot. From that dot, go down two points again and over to the right one. Put a dot. Repeat the pattern and you'll see that you have the same set of points as above.

    I too am in Algebra and having a hard time but i will try to answer the best i can! Y= -2X -5,

    -2 -5 = -7 + 1X = -6 =Y
