I mean to activate the new phone (sorry about all of this, I just want to make sure before I get one before I leave for my trip, so thank you for your patience)
I cant see any reason why you could not use them in new phone.So, yes you can.

Like, would you be able to call and everything without having to call your phone company and/or paying money?
Are you sure your phone has a sim card (many don't)? If so, the answer is yes. See:
