One of the three states of matter (the others being liquid and solid). Near absolute zero, a substance exists as a solid. As heat is added to this substance it melts into a liquid at its melting point (see phase change), boils into a gas at its boiling point, and if heated high enough would enter a plasma state in which the electrons are so energized that they leave their parent atoms from within the gas.

Matter can also go from solid to gas by-passing the liguid stage. This is called sublimation.

Really? You do not know what gas in a car is?

Or it could be flatulence. Take your pick.

Uh, excuse me miss? Flatulence is kind of a big word. Is there another word that means the same thing? Is there, huh?

Gas is something an animal emits through various bodily openings that you can't see but can often times smell.  I will be more than happy to demonstrate the sound effects of Gas as well as the ill effects done to your sense of smell it causes, usually through diffusion.
