    i need to gain weight quickly as I am 14lbs underweight and aged 86.weill drinking milk help me?

    i blame stress but really  I aM STEADILY LOSING WEIGHT. DOC SAYS I SHOULD EAT MORE....BUT SOMEHOW ui CANT ... ANY SUGGESTIOND FOR QUICK WEIGHT GAIN?

    try using "ensure" or "boost" they are both high and carbs as well as protein and are designed for people who need to put on healthy weight..

    eat loads of carbs this will put the wieght on also do have milk but try a milk shake instead of plain milk

    Bread and butter, pasta, desserts, whole milk, steak, milk shakes...let ME at it!!

    If you have the taste for it, drink beer. It should increase your appetite. So will wine before a meal.....

    LOL So its the home alone diet for adults ,Tater tots and cake with ice cream and last nights pizza . Baileys Irish cream with coffee. Pound of bacon with waffles and butter and lots of Maple Syrup .

    Eat a banana a day, you will gain weight.

    Pretend you're Italian and start eating and drinking to your heart's content.  If anyone suggests otherwise, tell them " Vafangool "

    I would ask your GP to run some tests..routine bloods..Xrays..whatever he/she thinks...It may be stress related and our appetites lessen as we get older..but that is a lot of weight to lose..don`t be alarmed but I definitely think you should see your Gp or get a second oppinion..I am amazed that they haven`t refd you to a nutritionalist/dietician to advise you and monitor your weight..I THINK DRINKS such as Build up and complan..which are high calorie milkshake type of drinks..also come in soups are better than milk alone!..Ask your GP to prescibe or ask your pharmacist which he/she thinks are best for you!..please try and eat little meals if you can..and can anyone help you with your stress??...GET WELL SOON!

    Drink Ensure, Ensure, Ensure.....Doesn't matter what flavor.  Drink it 3-4 times a day.  Give yourself 2 weeks.  You'll be delighted.  You can get it at Costco.

    see a dietician, they can supply a high carb, high protein drink that puts on weight very quickly and doesn't taste too bad, they will also give you a healthy balanced diet that will maintain an ideal weight. (the drink cannot be bought commercially as it is only available with recommendations from a dietician) and is usually supplied through hospitals. There could also be an underlying medical issue.Good luck and look after yourself.

    carbs.. white foods, pasta, bread, rice, and pastries.  everything I shouldn't have.

    If you have a heart problem, you will not gain weight. My mother, who was already slim, lost a lot of weight from 85yrs onwards. She developed a heart problem and it did not matter what she ate, she simply kept losing weight. Check with your doctor.

    You could go see a nutritionist, or doctor to get testosterone shots. Or possibly just go to a local health food store and speak to someone about protein shakes. Good luck.

    belated thanks everyone.  have put 8lbs on. doc presc; ensure .1 drink a day,. taken me a long time to put it on. Hard to keep it up. I think lonliness causes depressed feelings and this doesnt seem to do appetite any good]   will push on tho' as all comments were good, including the fun ones!!

    Can you join a social group? It's nice to have friends... maybe you have an interest and you can join a club. I know a lot of seniors who do this. My mother-in-law is 84 and she dances with a group of seniors. She loves it and it gets her out of the house.

    Try the milk with INSTANT BREAKFAST stirred in. At least you'll get nutriens.....
