The man who ran the animal refuge committed suicide and freed the animals before that. The sad thing is many of the animals have been killed.Apparently Ohio has no laws concerning these places.

COULD they have used a tranquiliser on these animals, i know lions, bears wolves can kill, but never the less i think they should not have shot them, unless a direct threat.

This happened in Zanesville,Ohio.Like clu said the owner freed the animals then committed suicide.Total of 48 animals killed, many of them lions tigers and bears. They had to kill them for fear of the people living nearby,it was night time so they was'nt going to try to dart them and round them up,sad but it had to be done. And yes they do need to have laws as for people owning these kind of animals,it's not right, but don't blame law enforcement, they did what they had to do.

I'm not blaming the law enforcment. It could have been a disaster, Its just sad that folks with mental problems can get exotic animals in the first place.

I agree, this guy was a wack job,he already did prison time on gun charges.I was'nt inplying that you were blaming law enforcment,it's just some of these dumb laws or lack of that we have here in Ohio pisses me off to no end.Like the law that they passed a few weeks ago where I live(Cleveland,Ohio)where you can pack a gun in bars now, these people are just asking for trouble, one thing we don't need here is more guns and in bars of all places. This will back fire on them,I see no good coming out of this,we do rank right up there for murders in this city...

Thanks Rick, Okay i understand they were a direct threat to human life, but what you say about the gun laws is absurd, The U.S. is the only country to have such laws, i don't get it!

@bulletman,from what I hear that is now the law in 45 out of our 50 states,I don't understand it,it's like we are going back too the wild wild west,go figure...

They should have eaten their former owner, he was dead anyway.

Actually Eggie i think the animals were more frightened than dangerous. Iknow a frightened amimal can be dangerous but in this case it seems to me an excuse for wonten killing. that's only my opinion.

I agree and I'm against people keeping them locked up in cages.

I'm with you on this one eggplant, and this place was'nt even a zoo.
