    what side of a fence does the framing face, the owner's or the neighbor's?

    The owner's side. The neighbor always gets the good side.

    The framing is on the owner's side with the finished side toward the neighbor.

    I believe it up to whom ever is installing the fence (whoever is paying for it.....)

    Colleen and Flip are right on this one,the framing should face the owner's side.

    Our framing is facing the inside of the yard...all the way around.

    A free standing fence is ideal as it is the same both sides, everyone benefits.

    Strictly speaking Flip is right you should give the neighbour the finished side But I didn't as I paid and erected ours

    Why not put up a fence  that  looks good on both sides
