    Compromise, in my view, means give and take in a situation/relationship. You don't get everything the way YOU want, but the other party also gives in as well. In the end, both are satisfied, even though they have "compromised", or given up certain things that would have made the outcome optimal. 
    Compromising TOO much, again, in my opinion, means that you have given up so much of your ideal, and so has the "opposition", that neither of you finds the "compromise" satisfactory.


    YOU may be the one giving in more than the other at times, which means there is an inequality in the level of compromise. If you are resentful of this, you have compromised too much.  When you feel you are going against your values or morals, that's too much, also.
