    Colon Cancer Stages

    Stage 1 Colon Cancer

This is the earliest stage of Colon Cancer and it basically means that it is a cancer that has not yet spread at all.  It’s a tumor and often recommended you get surgery.  The survival rates are very high and your life expectancy should be that of a “normal” person once the cancer has been treated.

    Stage 2 Colon Cancer

Stage 2 Colon cancer survival rates are statistically similar to stage one.  They are very high and getting higher all the time with medical advances.  The cancer has spread a bit further, but it’s possible to get with surgery.  Then it’s gone and hopefully never to return.  If the doctor or surgeon wants to be on the safe side, they might suggest chemo just to blast any little cancer cell that might have gone under the radar.

    Stage 3 Colon Cancer

Stage 3 colorectal cancer is subdivided into different groups.  These stages are just simple ways of describing how far it’s spread.  The life expectancy and survival rates are still quite high for this group.  Your cancer has spread but it could be treatable with surgery and chemo.  There are many options during this stage and it’s essential you get all the information you can.  New medical improvements are made all the time and they could be the ones that save your life.  Even though the stats at this stage aren’t too bad, they still reflect the people from years ago.  The current stats are probably much better because of improved medicine.  Even some doctors are using old techniques so you will want to get a second opinion.

    Stage 4 Colon Cancer

Stage 4 Colon Cancer scares a lot of people.  Here are a few important things to keep in mind:

    1.  Some people beat this disease even at this stage or even a slightly more advanced one than you may have.

    2.  The odds of survival are getting better all the time based on improved medicine.  Each day brings new advancements to the field.  Keep abreast with this new knowledge.

    3.  Many people get so scared when they hear this diagnosis, they give up hope and start producing all kinds of stress hormones.  Because of this, many people die early.  A positive attitude will increase your chances of totally beating and possibly reversing stage 4 colorectal cancer.  Here you need to apply all the possible cutting edge western medicine, as well as being open to the holistic medicines from the east.  Your body will be under a lot of stress, and if you can manage it well, you could turn this around and be a success story for people in the future.  Some people have beaten this from a worse place than you.  Do what they did.
