What a beautiful dog PL. Kelpie's are such wonderful dogs aren't they. Bet his color was just gorgeous, blue coats are one of my absolute favs. Thanks for sharing this picture. BTW what was his name?

6dogs his name is on photo details "SHEP" he was just the lovliest mate a young bloke of 19 could want. We spent hours together walking and working.

Kelpies were named after a bitch brought out to Australia from Scotland and her name was "Kelpie".Her pups were fantastic workers and obtained by putting the best available dogs over her.
Eventualy people seeing a good working dog would ask " Is that one of Kelpies pups?" After time they just said "is that a kelpie" and so the breed was named.

Kelpie is a Scottish water nymph that showed men where it was safe to cross a river or stream.
