The Help. Fantastic.
The best supporting actress award may go to someone we hated in the movie: Hilly. She was so convincingly evil. I have a feeling she's going to win an Oscar. She reminds me of the head nurse in the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
I hope the maid "Abeline" gets it though.

I watched "the Edge of Love" today. It is a biopic of English poet Dylan Thomas and depicts him as a very unlikable fellow. There is a messy if sometimes functional love triangle between him his wife and a second woman. The acting is very good -cinematography is excellent. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Eyes Wide Shut--1999. An oldie but a goodie. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are a doctor and his wife with a young daughter. He's a very successful doctor at the top of the middle class ladder. He is invited to an upper crust party by one of his patients and gets a taste of the ultra rich lifestyle and is bitten by the green-eyed monster and feels he belongs there. They see him as little more than a plumber--a highly educated tradesman. He steals his way into another party and appears a bumpkin in a dangerous milieu of devil worship and hedonism. This bumpkin is obsessed with imaginings that his wife is having an affair with a man who came on to her at the 1st party. Life changes for both of them--not in a good way.
