    What is the magnetic variation for 2011 for true North?

    10 degrees east

    Depens where you are


    For Example


    N50 deg 42 min  W001 deg 42min Is about  W 2 deg 2 min


    Look onj a chart for the area and the "Rose" should give you the answer ( As near as dammit!)


    Remember " Variation west  Compast best  "Variation East Compas least" an old sailors saying...


    So the magnetic figure at present in Christchurch Bay (UK not NZ) is as above


    thus 180 TRUE   is 182 deg 2 min MAGNETIC  BUt it gets kinda mind boggling when you're heading around North..


    Frankly small corrections like this dont matter tooooo much !!!


    Especially if you have a GPS to hand
