Does the IRS offer a reward for turning in people who have cheated on their taxes to get a higher refund?
An aquaintance was bragging he had cheated on his taxes and was going to received several thousands of dollars more than normal on his income tax return. In today's economy and so many people out of work, I think this is deplorable and he should be caught and punished. I'd turn him in if I knew how, especially if there are rewards because I'm one of the out of work people he is cheating!!!

I feel where you're coming from, many people in the U.S. don't even pay income tax. There isn't a law on the books to pay income tax, because income tax is unconstitutional. There are only tax codes, which can be enforced and put the offenders in the federal pen.
The problem isn't that we don't pay enough in taxes, or that the government doesn't have enough taxes coming in. The real problem our government is recklessly spending to much of our money.
You may not want to get involved in hurting a friend, I understand you're mad, but take some time to think about it before you act. Maybe tell the guy that you think he is a dishonest piece of crap. Sooner or later many people get audited, the universe has a way of working these things out on it's own sometimes.
Whatever you decide, you will have to live with the decision you make. Not to mention the repercussions of the matter. If it ruins your friend or his family and he winds up loosing everything and commits suicide over it, you may wish you never got involved? Good luck, hope you make a good decision, for you.
