In control panel, I have the option to turn on a firewall, which is currently "off". When I choose to turn it on, a box appears and says "unable to turn on firewall". Later, I explored the configuration system and was informed that the "Charter communications box" (modem} also has no firewall. I was wondering if this could be the reason that I need to restart PC daily&go through the control panel to change proxy settings as well as performance issues

after I go through the whole routine...it needs to be restarted so i can get online without performance issues....etc...etc...any clues?

You need to contact Charter asap. I think their firewall may have conflicted with your computer's firewall. They need to fix this. Your computer is not secure.

Thanks...I was wondering if the problem was within my unit or there's...since it was recently installed. I also thought the NSA might have had something to do with it.No?

No, LOL. It's not NSA. Just a conflict. Charter should be able to fix it.

Thanks,I'll call them first thing in the A.M. No matter what...you're good to me...ALWAYS giving good advice...by the way,I ran that reg. error program, and it said this PC was clean,as opposed to the one that you said was a scam. What would I do without you? Thanks again! Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
