My 02 sensor is reading zero on my computer. Installed a brand new 02 sensor and still not working.
My mechanic can not find the problem. He wanted me to bring it to a wiring specialist. ( $95 an hour)Maybe you can help me to check for a short. I do not know where to start. Thank You.
P.S. Does anyone know anything about how to troubleshoot an o2 sensor other than changing one out?

With the one 02 sensor not working, the exhaust may have been too rich and caused the converter to get too hot. This could have melted the wiring harness for the 02 sensor and may have even done damage to the cat. converter. Start by finding the wiring harness for the bad senor and visually inspect it for damage. Your mechanic should have or could have done that. I think I would try a different mechanic.

Thanks for the answer. Do you know how to order a new harness and what do they call it. I have tryed to find a diagram to see what it looks like, but can not find it.
Call your auto parts store, give them your car info (yr, make, model, how many cylinders, standard or auto). They will probably want to know which bank the 02 sensor is on so hopefully your mechanic can tell you that. Tell them you will need a diagram too. The diagram should be free.
