How many grades are you going to get?  If you are taking 6 classes, you will have 6 grades.  Give yourself 4 points for A, 3 points for B, 2 points for C, 1 point for D, and 0 for F.  W or INC don't count.
Add up the points.  Divide by 6.
    For example:  I earned 4 A's, 2 B's, and flunked P.E.
    4 x 4 = 16      2 x 3 = 6   1 x 0 = 0     16 + 6 + 0 = 22.   22/6 = 3.6666...   or 3.67
    A 4.0 or better is an "A" average.  3.0 - 3.9 is a "B" average. 2.0-2.9 is a "C" average. 1.0-1.9 is not acceptable!

Add up all of your scores and then divide by the number of score..... for example, 83, 84, 85 and 86 would be:  338 divided by 4 = 84.5
