    Trained dog now pees in house how do I stop it

    adult dog pees on carpet when we are not around.  How do I retrain an older dog to not pee on carpet?

        He might have a UTI. Get a sterile container from your vet and catch his urine in the container and take it to the vet. It could also be that he is alone too long. They need to go out at least every four hours.

          I'm with Ann on this one.  My dog did this and the next thing I knew she was having surgery for a ruptured bladder- she had a stone the size of a golf bali & it tore her bladder and landed on her liver.  She lived!!!!!! Thank God!!!!  (apparently she had had it for a long time, but they only did periodic (not yearly) urine tests.
